Well baby clinics, or well–child clinics as they are commonly known, deal with the total well–being of children and family. This is a drop–in clinic that is available to parents and carers to access for general advice and support and have their baby weighed. A well–baby clinic may be facilitated by a Nursery Nurse, Supporting Families Assistant or a Health Visitor.
One of the important services offered by well–baby clinics in the provision of immunizations for childhood diseases such as diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella. The clinics are responsible for tracking immunization rates in the community and notifying families when shots are due.
